Aquavia Lumina Review: The Night Walk at Wilderness Resort Is a Must

Visited June 2026

Aquavia Lumina was one of the highlights of our June 2026 trip. It's a nighttime walk through a sandstone canyon and forest at Wilderness Resort, lit up with projections, lights, lasers and music that tell a story as you go. It's beautiful, it's completely different from everything else in the Dells, and it runs every night of the year. If you're in town, it's a must.

Quick highlights

  • A one-mile night walk through a canyon and forest at Wilderness Resort, created by Moment Factory
  • Light projections, lasers, music and an original story along the trail
  • Takes 45 to 60 minutes
  • Open nightly year-round, starting at dusk
  • Tickets from $24.99 for ages 3 and up; kids 2 and under are free

There's an outdoor gathering area near the start with fire pits and string lights, a nice spot to wait for your time slot. Right at the start of the trail, a lit map shows the journey you're about to take.

What it's like

The trail winds along boardwalks and paths through the woods and down into the canyon, and every few minutes you walk into a new scene.

Some of our favorite moments:

  • Projections on the canyon walls. Animals and scenes appear on the rock, like a deer that seems to step right out of the sandstone.
  • Glowing moons hanging between the trees, lighting up the trail below them.
  • A huge stag made of light standing in the forest, and a great photo spot.
  • Laser scenes where beams fill the trees above and around you.
  • Pillars of light that rise up out of the dark forest.

Who it's best for

  • Families with kids who can handle a walk. The trail is about a mile of gravel paths and boardwalks with some steep sections, so it's not great for strollers.
  • Couples and groups looking for an evening plan that isn't a bar or an arcade.
  • Winter visitors who don't mind the cold. It runs all year, so bundle up from November to March.

Tips

  • Book ahead. Time slots can sell out on busy nights.
  • Go after dark. Later time slots in summer mean darker skies and brighter scenes.
  • Wear good shoes. The trail is gravel, uneven and steep in spots.
  • Dress for the weather. It's outdoors, and the canyon gets cool at night even in summer.
  • Check the weather. It can close in severe weather, and canceled tickets get a voucher to return.
  • Charge your phone. You'll want photos, and night mode helps a lot.
