Asgard Axe & Tap Review: Axe Throwing in Wisconsin Dells With a 10-Year-Old

Axe throwing lanes with targets at Asgard Axe & Tap in downtown Wisconsin Dells

At Asgard Axe & Tap in downtown Wisconsin Dells, the minimum age for axe throwing is 10, and our son had just made the cut. So on our June 2026 trip, we gave it a try. It's a great option for families with older kids who've outgrown some of the Dells' younger attractions.

Quick highlights

  • Axe throwing downtown on Oak Street, ages 10 and up
  • A Viking-themed space with a taproom, pizza and craft beer
  • The Underworld Arcade Bar downstairs, with retro arcade games and pinball
  • Indoors, so it works rain or shine
  • 2026 family deal: one kid aged 10 to 17 throws free with each paid adult hour, Sunday through Friday

What it's like

Asgard leans into the Viking theme, with dark walls, blue lighting and a glowing Viking logo. The throwing lanes run along one side of the room, each with its own target, with high-top tables right behind them so your group can hang out between throws.

The Viking theme runs through the whole place.

It takes a few throws to get the hang of it, and then it gets competitive fast. It's a fun change of pace from waterparks and arcades, and a nice thing for a parent and an older kid to do together.

Food, drinks and the arcade

The taproom has pizza and craft beer. We came for the throwing and didn't eat this time, so we can't speak to the food yet.

Downstairs is the Underworld Arcade Bar, with classic arcade cabinets and pinball machines. We looked around but didn't play. It looked like a great spot to keep going after your lane time is up, so ask about ages and hours when you check in.

Tips for families

  • Check ages. Throwers must be at least 10, and younger siblings can't throw.
  • Book ahead on weekends and rainy days, when the Dells' indoor spots fill up.
  • Ask about the kid deal. In 2026, one kid aged 10 to 17 threw free with each paid adult hour, Sunday through Friday.
