Swagat Indian Restaurant Review: Great Indian Food on Broadway in Wisconsin Dells

Visited June 2026

Indian food has been hard to find in the Dells, so when Swagat Indian Cuisine opened on Broadway, we made a point of trying it on our June 2026 trip. The short version: the food was excellent.

Quick highlights

  • Indian restaurant at 232 Broadway, right on the downtown strip
  • Dine-in, plus pickup and delivery through online ordering
  • Classic North Indian dishes: biryani, curries, tandoori and naan
  • A full vegetarian section
  • Entrées run about $18 to $24

Go for lunch, or go early

We first tried to go for dinner on a Saturday night, and it was packed, with a long wait. We'd also heard they had some service hiccups when they first opened. So we came back the next day for lunch instead, and it was a completely different experience: plenty of open tables and no problems at all. Hopefully the dinner rush has smoothed out since then, but if you're visiting on a busy summer weekend, lunch is the easy move.

The space

Swagat has a bright two-level dining room with big front windows onto Broadway, a staircase up to more seating, and plenty of room for a family.

What we ordered

I had the biryani, and my wife had the goat curry with naan. Both were really good, and we'd happily order them again.

The menu

The menu covers the North Indian favorites: samosas and Chicken 65 to start, tandoori and curry entrées like butter chicken and lamb vindaloo, biryanis, and a long list of breads, from garlic naan to tandoori roti. Vegetarians have plenty of choice, including chana masala, dal makhani, saag paneer, paneer butter masala and malai kofta. For dessert there's gulab jamun, ras malai and mango ice cream.

The online menu doesn't list allergen information, so if you have a food allergy, ask your server before you order.
