If your group can never agree on dinner, go to the Grateful Shed. It's a big indoor food truck hall and bar on the Parkway: the trucks are parked inside, there's a full bar, and garage doors open to a patio with fire pits and yard games. Everyone orders from whatever truck they want, and you all sit down together.

We went on our summer 2026 trip, and it was great. There were a lot of food options, more than we could get through in one visit, and everything we tried was good. The atmosphere is a big part of it: loud, colorful and fun, in a good way. Just know that it gets busy, so get there early, especially on a summer weekend.

Quick facts

  • What it is: an indoor food truck hall with a full bar, a patio and yard games
  • Where: 1470 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy, near Noah's Ark, about 15 minutes from our homes
  • Hours: food trucks from 11 am, bar until 2 am (2:30 am Friday and Saturday)
  • Open all year: it's indoors, so it works in winter and on rainy days too
  • Reservations: not taken
  • Dogs: welcome, inside and on the patio
  • Best for: groups and families who all want something different

What it's like

The Grateful Shed opened in May 2019 with a simple idea: bring food trucks indoors. Walk in and the trucks are lined up around a big, bright hall, each with its own menu. A bus hangs from the ceiling, old Volkswagen buses are turned into seating, and an Amoco sign and murals cover the walls. Order at a truck, grab drinks at the bar, and find a table inside or out on the patio.

It's loud and lively, which is half the fun. Earlier in the evening it's full of families and groups eating dinner, and later on it turns into more of a bar scene.

The food trucks

The trucks rotate, so the lineup can change from one visit to the next. As of October 2026, the Shed lists:

  • Amigos Dells: BBQ ribs and chicken
  • Low Rida Tacos: street tacos
  • Cluck Yeah: pizza and wings
  • Cousin Eddie's: grilled cheese

The Shed also talks up burgers, arepas and empanadas, and there are sweets like dessert pizza. Our tip: split up, send everyone to a different truck, and share at the table. That's the best way to try a lot.

The bar

The bar has a long wall of taps, cans and bottles, and a list of specialty cocktails like margaritas, a Rocket Pop and Mermaid Juice. The specialty drinks come in a souvenir cup you get to take home, and there are frozen drinks too, like piña coladas, daiquiris and White Claw slushes.

Happy hour is Sunday to Friday from 4:20 to 6:20 pm, with half-off 16-ounce drafts.

Music, games and events

There's usually something going on. The Shed has live music, DJs, trivia and bingo on rotating nights, plus sports on the TVs. Check their events page or Facebook before you go if you want music, or if you'd rather have a quieter dinner.

The patio

On a nice night, the patio is the best seat in the house. The garage doors roll up, and outside there are colorful picnic tables, fire pits, artificial turf with yard games, and a double-decker bus. The Shed is dog friendly, inside and on the patio, so you can bring the dog. See our dog-friendly Wisconsin Dells guide for more.

Visiting in winter and colder months

Because it's all indoors, the Grateful Shed is open all year, and it's one of the better things to do on a cold or rainy Dells day. Their hours page lists daily hours with no seasonal closing.

In the colder months, the garage doors stay down and everything happens inside: the trucks, the bar and the music. The patio and yard games are mostly a warm-weather thing, so plan on eating inside from late fall to spring. It's a handy dinner stop after a day at the indoor waterparks.

Food truck hours can be shorter in the off-season, and each truck keeps its own hours. In October 2026, the Shed's website listed the trucks until 8 pm (9 pm Friday and Saturday), while Google showed later kitchen hours. If you're planning a late dinner in winter, call ahead at (608) 253-0588.

Tips

  • Go early. It gets busy, especially on summer weekends, and patio tables go fast. Beat the dinner rush if you can.
  • No reservations. For a big group, show up early and grab tables together.
  • Split up and share. Send everyone to a different truck and meet back at the table.
  • Families, come earlier. Dinner time works great with kids. Later at night it's more of a bar crowd.
  • Check what's on. Bands, DJs and trivia rotate by night, so look at the schedule first.
  • Next door: Shed's Honky Tonk & Moonshine Tasting, at 1480 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy, does moonshine tastings of 8 flavors for $5, if the grown-ups want to keep the night going.

Our verdict

The Grateful Shed is one of the easiest dinners in the Dells for a group. Lots of choices, good food, a fun room and a great patio. Go early on a summer weekend, and don't expect a quiet meal on a Saturday night.
